Still racing, in woman's, Italian & endurance events. Amati had a colourful childhood, including being kidnapped for ransom and managing to hide it from her parents for two years. 1991 she got a F1 test in a Benetton, courtesy of her then-partner Flavio Briatore. She has later moved into media, writing columns in Italian motorsport publications and television commentary. As a child she was kidnapped by gangsters in an attempt to extract a ransom out of her wealthy parents.
