Started a BMW dealerchip 2001 with D Hill, N Mansell & M Brundle. John Surtees is the only World Champion on two and four wheels. During 1956-60 John won seven world titles in the 350 cc and 500 cc classes. Raced a GP his first year racing cars. In 1965 John also raced in America in a private Lola and had a serious practice crash at Mosport, wich left him in hospital with serious back injuries for many weeks. For the 1970 season he started his own GP team. In 1978 he folds his team because of sponsorship and medical problems decending from his accident at Mosport 1965. Luckily John came back and is now racing historic car and motorcyle races. He is now heading up the Team GB entry in the A1GP series, as well as helping the careers of Robbie Kerr and Alex Lloyd. July 20th 2009 John's son Henry was killed in a Formula2 race at Brands Hatch, a wheel fell of from another that chrashed car and hit Henrys helmet. "He was also one of the true greats of motorsport and continued to work tirelessly up until recently with The Henry Surtees Foundation and Buckmore Park Kart Circuit."
