Died in a car crash in the Canary Isles. He moved there to escape financial problems in Britain but is best known for forming the Ecurie Ecosse team 1952. During the fifties he was chief manager of the Cooper-Bristol sports car team which culminated in triumphs at LeMans 1956 & 57. In 1968 he was summoned to met with the Inland Revenue for tax problems. David fled to the Canary Islands where he died five years later from a massive heart attack following a minor traffic accident
