Awarded the Motorsport Industry Association's personal award for the Most Outstanding Contribution to the Motorsport Industry. 1972 Bernie formed the Formula One Constructors Association with Frank Williams-Williams, Colin Chapman-Lotus, Teddy Mayer-McLaren, Ken Tyrrell-Tyrrell, and Max Mosley-March. In 2004 he sold one of his London residences (Kensington Palace Gardens), to steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal for £57.1 million, making it the most expensive house ever sold. The Sunday Times Rich List of 2006 ranked Ecclestone the 13th richest person in the UK, with an estimated net worth of £2,243m. Still (2011) active as head of Formula 1, in 2017 Bernie sold the rights to Formula 1 to Liberty Media for £6 billion purchase and handed the role of chairman emeritus, and will be available as a source to the new board, but he will no longer be involved in the day-to-day running of Formula One for the first time since the 1970s. .
